The Mythos Sandbox is a peaceful building area where residents are free to work on their own creations in a relaxed environment.

1. Sandbox Rules
Please observe the following rules at all times. Violators will be banned permanently.
- No griefing, begging, or harassing other visitors.
- No Bloodlines or any other type of animation spam!
- No soliciting, spamming note cards, or setting objects ‘For Sale’.
- No firing or using weapons of any kind.
- No activating any sort of combat HUD!
- No loud gesture sounds or playing full song tracks.
- No driving or flying vehicles.
- No public nudity.
- No mega-prims, massive particle generators, or laggy scripts.
- No scripts that repeatedly SHOUT chat messages.
- No squatting. Repeatedly rezzing a skybox lounge is not allowed.
- Please limit or modify scripts that SHOUT text across the area to whisper.
- Large builds should be raised off the sandbox floor to make room for other visitors.
- Building is only permitted inside and above the sandbox. Please do not build projects below the sandbox or on the ground.
- Violations of the Second Life Terms of Service or Community Standards will be documented and reported to Linden Labs. Visitors are encouraged to file their own Abuse Reports with Linden Labs when needed.

2. Security
Mythos Sandbox has the added benefit of several volunteers that assist with security. These moderators are empowered to return objects and/or eject people that violate the rules.

3. Free Sound Library
The Free Sound Library is a massive archive of over 1,800 full permission sound clips for builders.
- Sound clips are free to use in your own creations.
- Sound clips are not to be sold by themselves or as part of a collection.
- These are sounds are FREE across the grid and should remain that way.
If you have sound clips that you would like to contribute to the library, please deposit them in the scripted donation box. Donated sound clips must be full permission.
A few full permission sound scripts can also be found in the library. These are provided as-is and we cannot provide any support or assistance in their usage.

4. Rental Kiosks
The Mythos Sandbox has several rental kiosks set aside for residents to sell their own creations.

Find a Kiosk
- Find a rental box that displays ‘This space for rent’ and click on it.
- The rental rate and maximum number of prims is displayed as hover text above the box.
- If you cannot see the text, move your camera closer and touch the rental box again.
- Read the rental rules below.

Rental Rules
- Prims – Stay within your prim limits as specified by the lease.
- Boundaries – Vendors and objects must remain inside your rental kiosk.
- Prims should never protrude through walls or onto the walkway.
- Hover Text should not show through a neighbor’s wall.
- Signage – An exterior shop sign can be added above your rental kiosk.
- Texture resolution should be a maximum of 512 x 512.
- Vending machines should not use ‘slide show’ modes.
- The following items are not allowed:
- Business in a Box items
- Camping Pads, Lucky Chairs, or other similar devices
- Laggy scripts, particle generators, or visitor counters
- Automated notecards givers or chat spam.
- Gambling machines or ATMs of any kind (Hippypay, etc.)
- Looping sounds (use a touch > preview system)

Renting a Kiosk
- Right-click on the rental box and select Pay.
- Choose the amount you wish to pay for rent.
- An invitation to join the “/Mythos Designs\” group will automatically be sent to you.
- You must join the group to rez your items.
- If you do not receive an invitation, please IM Hastur Pierterson in-world for an invitation.

Placing your items
- Activate the “/Mythos Designs\” group.
- You can now rez your vending machines and objects.

Disclaimers: If a renter is determined to be in breech of the rules, they will be notified by the owner and given reasonable time to resolve the problem. If the issue remains unresolved, the rental may be terminated without further communication.

5. Ad Boards
The interior walls of the sandbox are lined with several ad boards that visitors can use to advertise their services or business.
Touch an available sign to display the rental rate and rules. You can add an image texture, notecards, and sound file.
- Texture – This is the image that will be displayed on the ad board. The texture MUST be named as: [your avatar name]PIC. (ie. Jane SmithPIC)
- Notecard – The notecard should describe your services and business. You can embed additional landmarks, notecards, and other assets into the notecard. The notecard file name MUST begin with your full avatar name. (ie. Jane Smith’s Building Services)
- Sound – This is an optional feature. The sound will play when a sandbox visitor touches the ad board. The sound file MUST be named as: [your avatar name]SND. (ie. Jane SmithSND)

Ad textures, notecards, and sounds MUST be named correctly and set to full permission!

Quick Setup Instructions
- To rent an ad board, use right-click >Pay on the board.
- Touch the ad board you rented and choose the “Load Items” menu option. You have 60 seconds to hold down the CTRL key and drag your ad image and notecard into the vendor.
- When done loading your items, touch the sign again and choose the “Ready” menu option.
If your ad is not displayed then you should check the file names and permissions of the objects you loaded, clear the ad board contents, and then re-load your objects. If you wish to extend the rent multiple weeks, just repeat the right-click > Pay step.

6. Safety Tips
- If you suspect that someone is about to start griefing, rez a cube and sit on it. It is a quick and easy counter to most orbit-type weapons.
- NEVER buy anything from an unauthorized vending machines in the sandbox. These are almost always free items found elsewhere in SL.
- Beware of strangers offering unknown scripts.

7. SomaFM Radio
Twenty-two unique channels of listener-supported, commercial-free, underground/alternative radio broadcasting from San Francisco.
- First, turn off the streaming parcel music if you have it turned on. The SomaFM stations are setup separately from the SL client parcel music. You will need a net radio player such as WinAMP (recommended) or use a different player.
- Click any of the prim billboards to listen to that particular channel. A weblink will open the SomaFM page and launch the music station.
