My 
wife snapped this picture (click to enlarge) during a recent camping trip in Big Sur, California. The location is LimeKiln State Park. A five minute walk takes you into the redwood forest trail that follows the stream up to the waterfalls. I found a semi-dry location close to the bottom of the falls to setup my equipment to make a few field recordings.
So this is how many of our sounds are acquired!
